Each tale in The Theatre of Cruelty is a rollercoaster ride through hell and heaven, fueled by a quest to capture the truth through the power of imagination.

Tessier and Lafleur’s debut graphic novel collects four striking stories each prefaced with an original Tarot card illustration.

“The Sleeping Heart,” “The Theatre of Cruelty,” “The Lovers,” and “To Chandra from Surya” filter autobiographical fragments through the dream world, plumbing the depths of the psyche, mining the mythology of our collective unconscious.

A Wrinkle In Time

Edward Robert Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Earl of Lytton

Old School

The book begins with the line “It was a dark and stormy night,” an allusion to the opening words in Edward George Bulwer-Lytton‘s 1830 novel Paul Clifford. Im sure almost everyone has read this book in middle school, i know i did and i loved it. I also found it kind of funny that the school system would let middle schoolers read such a trippy ass book. I havent read all the books in the series but i defenitely recommend it, they are out of this world…
